Small-Dog Friendly Rooms in Gatlinburg
River Edge Inn now offers small-dog friendly rooms. We are a small-dog friendly Gatlinburg hotel, and we welcome small dogs in all of our standard and deluxe rooms so more of our guests can bring their best friend along. We love dogs, and we know you do too. To keep things comfortable and safe for every guest, including the four-legged ones, we have a clear set of policies in place. River Edge Inn Now Offers Small-Dog Friendly Rooms
River Edge Inn is now a small-dog friendly Gatlinburg hotel. We welcome small dogs in all of our standard and deluxe rooms to better accommodate our guests. We love dogs, and we know you do too. To ensure the safety and well-being of all our guests, we have policies in place for everyone’s comfort.
What this means in practice is simple. You do not have to leave your dog behind or pay for boarding while you explore the Smoky Mountains. Your small dog can stay right in the room with you, whether you reserve a standard two queen room or one of our deluxe rooms with a fireplace. Bring them along for the drive, the walks, and the downtime between adventures in downtown Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Small-Dog Policy: Fees, Deposit, and Limits
River Edge Inn welcomes small dogs up to 50 lbs. Here is exactly what to plan for:
- Size limit: small dogs up to 50 lbs are welcome.
- Nightly small-dog fee: $40.00 plus tax per small dog, every night of your stay.
- Refundable incidental deposit: an additional $250.00 incidental deposit per dog-friendly room. This deposit is refundable when there is no damage and no unresolved disturbance, as described in the policies below.
- Maximum number: a maximum of two small dogs per guest room is permitted.
- No other pets: strictly no other kind of pet is permitted on property.
- Violation fee: guests who violate this policy will be subject to a $500.00 plus tax fee.
How to Register Your Dog Before Check-In
For safety reasons, we do require all small dogs and ADA service animals to be registered with the hotel prior to issuing keys. Registering your dog includes uploading a photo of your dog, providing their name, and acknowledging our small-dog policies.
Registration is easy and can be completed through a secure link via text message from River Edge Inn. On your day of arrival, text the word FIDO to 865-436-9292 to receive the registration link. Fill it out, and your room keys will be ready for you.
Doing this ahead of the front desk keeps check-in quick for you and everyone behind you in line, and it gives us the basic information we need to keep all of our guests and their dogs safe during the stay.
Walking and Clean-Up Rules
All guests are required to always clean up after their own dog or dogs. There are grassy areas within walking distance of River Edge Inn, as well as dog sanitation bags available for walking dogs.
When you clean up after your dog, you are required to dispose of soiled bags in the dumpster at the corner of the building. Please do not discard these in guestroom trash cans or other trash cans around the building. Keeping waste out of the room trash and the public bins keeps the property clean and pleasant for the next guest, and it is one of the simplest ways every dog owner can be a good neighbor during their stay.
Noise, Disturbances, and the Refundable Deposit
If a registered dog or service animal becomes a noise disturbance, or if River Edge Inn receives any dog-related complaints from the guest’s room, the guest must attend to the complaint in a timely manner. We will attempt to contact the dog owner in the event of a disturbance. However, it is solely the responsibility of the dog owner to prevent violations.
Service Animals and the ADA
Registered service animals are welcome in accordance with current ADA standards. Emotional support animals are NOT considered to be service animals by the ADA, or by River Edge Inn.
A guest whose registered service animal is a noise disturbance, or causes damage to the room and its contents as outlined above, will also be subject to the same $250.00 cleaning fee. As noted above, all service animals are registered with the hotel prior to issuing keys, the same as small dogs.

Exploring Gatlinburg With Your Dog
One of the best parts of bringing your small dog to River Edge Inn is how much there is to do right outside the door. We are near downtown Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and the property is walkable to the Parkway, so you and your dog can stretch your legs without getting in the car.
Back in town, plenty of the open-air shops and patios along the Parkway are happy to see a well-behaved dog on a leash. Keep your dog leashed, carry water and a couple of sanitation bags, and watch the summer pavement temperature on warm afternoons.
Plan Your Smoky Mountain Stay
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park sits right at the edge of Gatlinburg, and a stay at River Edge Inn puts you close to all of it. Spend your days on the trails, drive the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, or chase waterfalls, then come back to a comfortable room where your small dog is waiting for you.
